Crystal Ball 2008
Butler Health System held its most successful Crystal Ball ever - raising more than $117,000 to help purchase a digital imaging unit for Women's Services at Butler Memorial Hospital.
"A Tropical Escape" was held on a very snowy March 8, 2008 at the Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry Township. The event included several tropical-themed festivities including a tiki bar, live steel drum music, complimentary photographs, dinner stations, a basket auction, a silent auction, a trip auction, dancing and casino games.
Over 400 guests were adorned with a lei at the door and received a beach bag filled with beach gifts. The Bloomery, located in Butler, created the birds of paradise centerpieces. At the end of the evening, the guests cashed in their winnings from the casino games and were eligible for three large prizes donated by Moses Jewelers, D.L. Dental Lab and Parker's Appliances.
The Butler Health System Foundation coordinated the event with the assistance of a committee of community volunteers chaired by Janice Pakozdi-Luffy.
Crystal Ball proceeds have helped to...
- Purchase the digital ultrasound unit and the stereo-tactic breast biopsy machine located in the Women's Imaging Center at BMH
- Establish Women's HeartAdvantage, a women's heart health education and diagnostic program for the community
- Provide renovation to women's surgical services at BMH
- Support women's services in Cardiology and Radiology at BMH
