New Endocrinologist to Head Diabetes Management Center at BMHApril 23, 2004 - (BUTLER, PA) - Oscar Castro, M.D. was recently appointed to the medical staff at Butler Memorial Hospital and as medical director of the hospital’s Diabetes Management Center. He specializes in endocrinology, with his private practice currently located at the Butler office of Butler Medical Associates.Dr. Castro comes to BMH from Oklahoma City Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Oklahoma. He earned his bachelor's degree in medical technology and his doctoral degree from the Far Eastern University in the Philippines. He completed an internal medicine residency at Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center in Brooklyn, NY, and a fellowship in endocrinology at the Oklahoma University Health Science Center in Oklahoma City, OK. He was previously employed at the Primary Care Physicians and Endocrinologists at Tyler Healthcare Center in Tyler, MN. With the addition of Dr. Castro, the BMH Diabetes and Nutritional Management Center continues its service of providing comprehensive, specialized care to diabetic patients on an inpatient and outpatient basis. The Center recently relocated its operations to the second floor of BMH and physically combined the diabetes management and nutritional services. These recent changes will allow for a higher level of service and improved quality of care. Dr. Castro is board certified in endocrinology and internal medicine. He is a member of the American Diabetes Association, the American College on Clinical Endocrinology, the Endocrine Society, and the American Thyroid Association. Dr. Castro resides in Butler with his wife, Marigold Castro, and their child, Carl Angelo Castro. |
