Diabetes Management Center at BMH Brings National Speaker to Butler

November 2, 2004 - (BUTLER, PA) – The Diabetes Management Center at Butler Memorial Hospital will host national motivational speaker and marathon runner Bill King for a presentation titled "Balancing Life with Diabetes" on Nov. 9 and 10. King will speak at 7 p.m. on Nov. 9 at BMH’s Family First Resource Center, 216 North Washington Street in Butler. He will do a repeat presentation at 9 a.m. on Nov. 10 in the Dimmick Educational Center, BMH Ground Floor.

King is an insulin dependent diabetic who wears an insulin pump and has competed in more than 11 marathons. He developed diabetes in 1984 at the age of 24, and one of his children has already been diagnosed with pre-diabetes.

“One of the key components to dealing with diabetes successfully is keeping an upbeat attitude,” says King. “Keeping diabetes under control is labor-intensive. It’s a ton of work. The people who do it most successfully are those who stay positive about it.”

This is no fee to attend this informational presentation but seating is limited so registration is required before Nov. 5 by calling 724-284-4374.
