BHS Board of Trustees Appoints New MemberJan. 13, 2005 - (BUTLER, Pa.) – The Butler Health System Board of Trustees appointed Thippeswamy Channapati, M.D., as a new board member at the December meeting. His term began on Jan. 1, 2005.“Dr. Channapati has served as a physician in this community for almost three decades, and his expertise and input as a private practice physician dedicated to this community will be a valuable asset to our board,” says Joseph Stewart, president and CEO of Butler Health System. “He has a wealth of clinical experience with the geriatric patient population, and this clinical expertise will be a great addition.” With Channapati’s appointment, there are now 13 board members. Channapati has been a member of the medical staff at Butler Memorial Hospital since 1977. He opened his family practice in Butler in 1977. His office is located at 342 N. Main St. in Butler. He has been the medical director for the Transitional Care Unit at Butler Memorial Hospital since 1991 and the medical director of Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony since 1982. He is also the medical director for Sugarcreek Rest Home in Worthington and New Haven Court in Butler. Channapati is currently a member of the Butler County Medical Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the American Medical Director’s Association. He earned his medical degree from Bellary Government Medical College in Karmataka in Bellary India. He served an internship at St. Margaret Memorial Hospital in Pittsburgh and then completed a residency in internal medicine at Shady Side Hospital. He also served as a staff physician at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Butler in 1977 before opening his private practice. Dr. Channapati lives in Butler with his wife. The couple has two adult children. |
