Feb. 18, 2005 – (BUTLER, Pa.) – State Rep. Brian Ellis presented Butler Memorial Hospital’s vascular laboratory with a citation from the House of Representatives recognizing the hospital lab and its physicians and employees for achieving a third accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL). The lab was accredited for its commitment to providing a high level of patient care and quality testing for the diagnosis of vascular disease. The facility is one of a select number of vascular laboratories in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico to meet or exceed ICAVL standards for noninvasive testing.

BMH’s accreditation is good for a period of three years.

Ellis represents Pennsylvania’s 11th Legislative District, which includes the City of Butler, Buffalo, Butler, Clearfield, Connoquenessing, Donegal, Oakland, Summit, and Winfield Townships, and Chicora and East Butler Boroughs.

One American dies every 32 seconds of cardiovascular disease and disorders of the heart and blood vessels. Each year, two million people develop deep vein thrombosis - blood clots in the veins. Early detection of these life-threatening vascular diseases is possible through the use of noninvasive vascular testing techniques preformed in vascular laboratories.
