BMH Announces Opening of New Outpatient Services Site in MarsMarch 28, 2005 - (MARS, PA) – Butler Memorial Hospital will open an outpatient lab and x-ray facility in Mars on Monday, March 28. The new site, Outpatient Services of BMH, is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for lab and x-ray services. The facility is located at 504 Pittsburgh Street in Mars, ¼ mile off of Route 228, in the Baumgartel Professional Building.
Outpatient tests offered in Mars include blood work, urine collection and x-ray services. Anyone can use the service with a physician’s order for outpatient testing. Outpatient Services of BMH will see that the patient’s physician receives the results, even if the physician is not on staff at BMH.
“This is our continuing response to the needs of our community and our commitment to provide services the way people want them — quality care close to home and convenient for their busy lifestyles,” says Ken DeFurio, Senior Vice President, Operations at Butler Health System.
“Our goal is to provide increased support for physicians in these areas by expanding services and bringing these services to patients in their local neighborhood,” says DeFurio.
Other Outpatient Services of BMH locations include:- Butler Commons on New Castle Road
- East Jefferson Street in Butler
- Poplar Professional Suites in Slippery Rock
- Dinnerbell Square in Saxonburg
- Hoffman Memorial Medical Center in East Brady
- South Main Street in Zelienople
- Cypher Professional Building on East Brady Street in Butler
In addition, there are also two Outpatient Services of Butler Memorial Hospital facilities that offer physical therapy -- one at the YMCA in Butler and one on East Jefferson Street in Butler. These sites compliment the full service outpatient lab and radiology facility is located within the hospital itself on East Brady Street.
“With a prescription for laboratory or x-ray tests from any licensed physician, we can do the testing for you on a walk-in basis at any of these sites -- even if your physician is not affiliated with BMH,” says DeFurio adding that from an insurance prospective, the services are reviewed just as if they had been performed at the hospital.
“Our research showed us that a growing number of people that reside in this area use our hospital and we wanted to bring needed testing closer to these residents,” says DeFurio, noting that this is just the beginning of continued hospital growth in other areas across the county.
“We will continue to assess the community's health care needs and look for ways to provide for these needs in the most convenient way possible,” he says.
