Tobacco Free Campus
In an effort to help protect the health of our visitors and employees, Butler Health System (BHS) will become tobacco free. As of September 2, 2008 the use of tobacco products will no longer be permitted inside or outside of any building or property owned, managed or leased by BHS. Smoking is also prohibited inside personal vehicles when driving or parking on BHS properties. We ask that prior to driving or parking on BHS properties, you extinguish cigarettes, cigars and pipes and leave them and smokeless tobacco products inside your car. There will no longer be designated smoking areas on BHS properties.
We know that the decision to go tobacco free will be difficult for some, but with growing evidence that shows there is no safe level of second-hand smoke, we must take reasonable steps to make our environment a safe place for our patients, visitors and staff. As the healthcare leader in our region, we wish to help our community return to wellness. Smoking cessation is part of that mission, and we feel we have an obligation to lead by example in our efforts to create a healthier community. We thank you for your cooperation.
