About the HeartCenter
Our HeartCenter is a state-of-the-art center where complex open-heart surgeries and interventional and diagnostic cardiac catheterizations are performed daily.
The HeartCenter was created in 1998 in response to the findings of the hospital's community health assessment. These findings showed that a high percentage of Butler County residents with serious cardiovascular diseases were being sent to Pittsburgh for care, many times delaying treatment.
All told, about 3,000 patients came through our HeartCenter's doors last year. About 85% of those people were treated in our cath lab, and the other 15% were treated through open-heart surgery.

Five-Star Rating
For three years, we've been nationally recognized with a five-star rating
for
excellence
in coronary bypass surgery - the top rating a hospital can receive.
Patient Outcomes and Satisfaction
Most patients who have catheterizations or open-heart surgery in our HeartCenter experience
- Improved heart function,
- Improved activity level, and
- Lowered risk of heart attack in the future.
And we stay in touch with our patients through post-surgery follow-up calls.
Comprehensive Evaluation and Procedure
Patients who come to our HeartCenter are first thoroughly tested. A team of surgeons and cardiologists evaluates those tests and determines the best course of action.
We've become the preferred hospital in this region for heart procedures, including - Diagnostic and interventional heart catheterizations, and
- Open-heart surgeries, which include
- Cardiac bypass,
- Off-pump cardiac bypass, and
- Heart valve repair and replacement.
And the reason we've become a nationally recognized regional center?
Our People
Dr. George Davliakos, the medical director of open-heart surgery at our HeartCenter, points to our people.- Cardiologists
- Surgeons
- Nurses
- Case managers
- Cardiac rehab therapists
- Anesthesiologists
- Perfusionists
- Technicians
- Physician's assistants
They're the reason why our heart program continues to gain national recognition and perform so well.
"To get these results, everybody on the whole team has to be good and all of their work has to be high quality," Dr. Davliakos said.
"That's why we achieve the results we do. Everybody on the team is excellent and cares about what they do and wants to make sure the patients do well."
